Future in Power Electronics

In the future, advanced power electronics will enhance and replace traditional components with their superior controllability.

Advanced power electronics is basically a software-controlled compact configuration of fast solid-state switches capable of transforming electric energy with high efficiency in applications between power sources and loads.

What influence does the growing energy market have on the development of power semiconductors?

At both ends of the energy scale we can see the developments. On the one hand, photovoltaic panel voltages are increasing to 1500kV DC from just 700V. But at the same time on the other hand, there is a growing interest in energy harvesting micropower solutions.

A reliable and renewable supply of energy with little or no environmental drawbacks offered by photovoltaic energy. The voltage generated should be as high as possible to keep the I²R losses in the power cables low so as to increase efficiency.

Post Covid-19 Impact

In the post-coronavirus(Covid-19) disease business environment, the semiconductor and electronics industries have been facing the challenges of geographically integrated manufacturing and supply chain models for decades. Semiconductor companies can actively look to shift or share existing production capacity with a more flexible agile supply node network model, allowing multi-trails to reduce the risk of single-point failure.

This model also provides regional scale, where companies can increase rigid capacity in the near-region and qualify alternative sources of supply as well as ensure that sufficient capacity is stored within the country, while other connected regional nodes are also created. Many semiconductor and electronics companies are facing this crisis as a new opportunity to rethink and redesign existing policies as well as to redesign and restructure new electrical policies to open a window to help create a more flexible semiconductor supply network.

Many semiconductor and electronics companies are now turning their attention from China to India and other developing countries. According to a report published by The Economic Times on April 27, 2020, about 200 companies in the United States are considering moving their products from China to India after the general election. Many such improvements are expected in the coming years.
